Potato Tornado / Potato Spirals

Potato Tornado is a type of potato recipe which is prepared by cutting whole potato into spirals. The spirals look at first very difficult for us to try at home, but a very simple technique can make the potato into a spiral potato. I came across the picture of this spiral potato while looking out for a different potato recipe and it caught my attention.

For making potato spirals or twist potato, we have to use a skewer or skewer-like stick to make spirals easily. The masala used for the potato spirals depends on our taste. We can use anywhere from simply salt and pepper to chilli or any combination of powders that we like.

Potato Tornado / Potato Spirals

Ingredients

  • 250 grams Potato
  • 1 tsp Pepper Powder
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala
  • 1 tsp Chilli Powder
  • Salt as needed
  • 150 mL Oil

Instructions

  1. Wash the potatoes and take a whole potato.

    Insert it vertically into a skewer or skewer-like stick or metal skewer.

    Start cutting the potato spirally. Start by making a slanting cut at the one end of the potato as you can see in the picture.

  2. Continue cutting by rotating the potato along with the skewer. Your every cut has to end at the skewer inside the potato. This will end up in a spiral potato.

    Wash the spiral potatoes.

  3. Mix all the powders - chilli powder, pepper powder, garam masala, and salt and mix it up by adding little water.

    Mix it up with the spiral potatoes.

  4. Heat oil in a pan and deep fry spiral potatoes in low flame until all sides are fried well.

Potato Tornado/Potato Spirals are ready for an eye-catchy, tasty evening snack.
